Colophon: a statement at the end of a book containing the scribe or owner’s name, date of completion, or bitching about how hard it is to write a book in the dark ages

  • Oh, my hand
  • The parchment is very hairy
  • Thank God it will soon be dark
  • St. Patrick of Armagh, deliver me from writing
  • Now I’ve written the whole thing; for Christ’s sake give me a drink
  • Oh d fuckin abbot
  • Massive hangover
  • Whoever translated these Gospels did a very poor job
  • Cursed be the pesty cat that urinated over this book during the night
  • If someone else would like such a handsome book, come and look me up in Paris, across from the Notre Dame cathedral
  • I shall remember, O Christ, that I am writing of Thee, because I am wrecked today
  • Do not reproach me concerning the letters, the ink is bad and the parchment scanty and the day is dark
  • 11 golden letters, 8 shilling each; 700 letters with double shafts, 7 shilling for each hundred; and 35 quires of text, each 16 leaves, at 3 shilling each. For such an amount I won’t write again
  • Here ends the second part of the title work of Brother Thomas Aquinas of the Dominican Order; very long, very verbose; and very tedious for the scribe; thank God, thank God, and again thank God
  • If anyone take away this book, let him die the death, let him be fried in a pan; let the falling sickness and fever seize him; let him be broken on the wheel, and hanged. Amen

what does oh d fuckin abbot even MEAN

an abbot is the head of a monastery so it just means “fuck my boss” basically, an abbreviation of “O damned fuckin Abbot”. this is what it looks like:

Cut ties with those who curse you

While this is specifically about witchcraft, it can apply to everyone and every person in their life.

Cut ties with the people who curse you. If they’re willing to go out of their way to hurt you, they aren’t worth your time or your precious energy.

Destroy everything you own that they gave you, or better yet, cleanse it and donate it.

Block their number, don’t just delete it. Block them on everything. Put up wards on your house to keep them out and to repel their energy.

Don’t curse them back, like I said, they aren’t worth your energy. You can however use repelling spells to send their energy back to them if they try to curse you again.

Cleanse everything, yourself, your home, everything. And cleanse it well enough to be able to find anything that they may have snuck into your house. This could be a cursed object. Get rid of it.

And most importantly, don’t beat yourself up. This is their problem, not yours. You need to move on and take care of yourself and your loved ones. This person who hurt you is gone now.

You’re better off without them.

first of all, angrboða is not loke’s wife or sidechick, so jot that down

loke is her consort and he had to earn that and earn the respect of her people to be welcome in járnvidr

angrboða was the one who invited him to her bed and that’s held in high regard, so again, jot that down

“A worldwide crowdsourcing movement is currently unearthing Ireland’s deepest fairy secrets and darkest myths. A voluntary collective online is working its way through transcribing 700,000 pages of folklore that were collected throughout Ireland between 1937 and 1939. This mass of previously inaccessible material was gathered by more than 100,000 children who were sent to seek out the oldest person in their community just before second World War to root out the darkest, oddest and weirdest traditional beliefs, secrets and customs, which were then logged into 1,128 volumes, titled the Schools’ Manuscripts Collection.

Half a million pages have been digitised by the National Folklore Collection, of which more than 100,000 pages have now been transcribed by volunteers, revealing the fairy situation in every townland, the types of leprechaun and butter churn common to each area, the names of people who tried to steal gold and what happened to them, or who had relationships with mermaids. There is material on local cures, holy wells, strange animals, travelling folk and spirits.”

Step one - read some beginner witchcraft books.

Step two - do things explained in those books.

Step three - read more books.

Step four - realize things in the books in step one were wrong.

Step five - do different things than in step two.

Step six - read more books.

Step seven - realizing, wait, no, things in step one might have been right but not fully explained.

Step eight - explore using different approaches to doing things.

Step nine - read more books.

Step ten - realize this is never going to stop.
